Senator Ali Ndume has broken his silence on his removal as Senate Chief Whip, stating that he does not believe his actions warranted his removal.
In a statement made at his country home in Maiduguri on Friday, Ndume claimed that he did not say anything wrong and stands by his statements in the interview that led to his ouster.
“I did not say anything wrong. And therefore I want to state that I stand by all my statements in the interview I granted.
“After all, I did not contest to be the chief whip. I did not contest to be the vice chairman of the appropriation committee. I contested to be the one of the Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and God granted me that victory and I’m happy with God, what God has given to me,” Ndume insisted.
The lawmaker stated that he never wanted to be a Senate Whip after serving as the leader in the eight Senate.
Ndume was removed as Senate Chief Whip after criticising the President Bola Tinubu government’s handling of the nation.
He has also declined the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Tourism, citing lack of experience and exposure.
