THE Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Saturday, said with the disposition of the cases over the governorship election in the state, there would be no more distraction, as the people would begin to witness unprecedented development across the state.

The governor, who spoke at the final burial ceremony of the late Obaro of Kabba, Oba Michael Olobayo, also described the traditional ruler as a ‘giant in history,’ whose demise would be greatly missed and whose vacuum would be difficult to fill.

Speaking at Kabba, the headquarters of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state, he said his recent victory at the Supreme Court would enable him to settle down for government business that would produce a purposeful governance for the people of the state.

Bello said, “Our victory is not a winner-takes-all-jamboree. We need all of us. I have since not stopped calling on all people of Kogi to close ranks with me so that we can take our state to the heights I know she can attain.

“We have mapped out a ‘New Direction Agenda and Blueprint’ for our journey to greatness as I assure you it includes Kogi West very comprehensively. I repeat that call again today in Okunland. We are better together.”

Eulogising the late Obaro, the givernor noted that the peaceful disposition of the late traditional ruler would be used as a rallying point in the governance of the state.

According to the governor, “In the short time that has elapsed since I took over in office, my dominant impression of his royal highness is of a sincere royal father who, though incapacitated by illness, cared so deeply for his people such that he always fought fearlessly to defend them and demand their welfare.

“We will remain true to his ideals for the development of his kingdom. We will commit as much of our resources as equity will allow to see that Oweland and Okunland experience peace, security and unprecedented infrastructural development, along with the rest of Kogi State.”

Meanwhile, following the confirmation of  Governor Bello as the duly elected governor of Kogi State, by the Supreme Court,  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator, representing Central Senatorial District Area of the state, Ahmed Ogembe, has admonished politicians in the state to close ranks for development.
