I have just been diagnosed with cataracts but I don’t want surgery which I am told, is necessary for its removal. Kindly advise me on what to do.

Osoba to Okurounmu: You’re attacking out of envy

If you are diagnosed with a cataract, there are other treatment options that you can consider before choosing surgery to replace your clouded lens. Early cataract symptoms such as cloudy or blurry vision, or poor night vision may be improved with new eyeglasses, anti-glare sunglasses, or magnifying lenses. Certain tints and coatings also can be added to lenses to reduce symptoms. Even better positioning of lamps or reading lights can help. In addition, wearing a hat when outdoors in addition to quality sunglasses could help to  prevent further cataract development. However, surgical removal of cataracts is recommended when your vision loss interferes with everyday activities, such as driving, reading, or watching TV. If non-surgical measures do not help, surgery is the only effective treatment. When handled by a qualified eye doctor, the procedure is very safe and affordable.
