I feel strong and excited at 56 — Bishop Adelakun

PRESIDING Bishop, Victory International Church (Worldwide), Bishop Taiwo Victor Adelakun, has described how strong and excited he was as he celebrated his 56th birthday while looking forward to what the coming years have in store for him.

Adelakun, who clocked 56 on Sunday, May 26, while speaking with the Tribune Online in his office at the church’s headquarters, Rehoboth Cathedral, Victoryland complex, Oluyole Estate Extension, Ibadan, stated that “tomorrow is greater than today.”

Reviewing his calling as a servant of God in the past years, he hinted that so many things have changed. “We had our teething problems, we had our struggling times but God has helped us to change the situation. As David said, we passed through the waters, we passed through the fire but God has brought us to our wealthy place. So, I can say that we have gone through thick and thin but today things have changed and we give glory to God for we are on the path of greatness as a ministry.”

Speaking on his on the attainment of his dreams in the years past, Adelakun noted that:”My target was that at 55 years old for us to have a University and that has been achieved at the age of 56, so by the time I clock 60 by the grace of God, we would have taken the ministry to another level and begin to raise succession. That is, younger people that will take it higher and higher.”

The Bishop, while speaking on the annual bursary award to indigent students, cash and other material gifts to the widows as well as other charity initiatives he has been embarking upon over the years, said: “Life is not about taking and taking. It is also about giving, love is life, love is God and God is life. I believe that from the scriptures that when you live a life for liberality God makes sure that your prosperity comes.

“He put upon you his prosperity as you live a life of liberality. Liberality is vital for our prosperity. That is why we have no choice than to do what is needful of us.”
