I don’t dwell on social media trolls —Waje

Published by

Not many celebrities know how to handle social media trolls and this is why many of them like to fight dirty when any of their fans crosses what they described as the red line. In most cases, Nigerian entertainers usually switch from celebrity status to dragging any fan whose comment they found insulting.

But female songstress and performer, Aituaje Iruobe, popular as Waje, appears to have mastered the art of handling overzealous social media trolls, hinting that maturity has helped her to understand and manage some of her fans who like to cross the line.

During an Instagram live session, Waje said with maturity, she has realised that she does not have to dwell in that space and give anyone the privilege to make her say or do what she would not like to do.

She disclosed that many people who come online to troll celebrities don’t have bad intentions but they are usually looking for ways to release stress and they found the social media space as platforms where they could pour out their bottled anger and stress.

According to her, people look for ways to therapeutically release stress that they have and they jump on posts of public figures to drop their comments. “So I really don’t dwell on it. I know it is my attention you are seeking and I either decide to give it to you” she said.

“I realised that when people do that they really don’t mean to, people just look for ways to therapeutically release the stress that they have and social media has become that space for them.”

Last week Sunday, Waje thrilled fans and guest to an evening of soft and soulful music at ‘An Audience With Waje’ show held at Live Lounge in Victoria Island, Lagos with the duo of Ric Hassan and Khemmiesings also being in their usual element to entertain the audience.

She will be releasing a new body of work very soon, she hinted at the event.
