I caught her lover stark naked in her room —Husband

Published by

My lord, my wife is a harlot. She will kill me if I don’t end our relationship now. Please, separate us so that I can live in peace.”

These were the words of Olusola Aremu, before Ile Tuntun Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Olusola had dragged his wife, Adesola Aremu, to court alleging that she was troublesome and promiscuous.

He stated that stories of his wife’s illicit love affairs had filtered into his ears, but she was always denying it.

He added that he had on some occasions sighted her in the company with her lovers and when he challenged her, she would ask if he caught them making love to her.

Olusola stated that he had patiently waited for the day he would catch her pants down and this eventually happened.

He narrated thus: “My lord, I count myself unfortunate because I made a wrong choice in marriage.

“I’m married to a woman who is not   satisfied with just a man. She derives satisfaction hanging out and sleeping with other men.

“Anytime I accuse her of engaging in illicit affairs, she would flair up and demand for a proof.

“My lord, I felt justified the day I returned home late and met the house quiet.

“I walked into the sitting room and greeted, but no one answered.

“I was taken back; I thus made for my wife’s room.

“I was shocked at what I saw.

“I saw a man in my wife’s room at that late hour. The man was stark naked.

“My wife at this time was in our courtyard.

“I challenged him after which I beat the hell out of him.

“I seized his shoes and handset as evidence.

She later went to report me at the police station that I stole her husband’s shoes and handset.

“I was arrested by the police and locked up for a day.

“By the time I was released she had left home.

“She later came to pack her belongings with the help of a policeman. She left with my generator and deep freezer.

“My lord, I believe my life is no longer safe if she had the audacity to bring  her lover into my house and sleep with him.

“I pray the court to separate us so that I put my life in order again.

“I’m also no more interested in our marriage, Adeola told the court that:

“He’s fond of beating me. I started sleeping in my shop when I couldn’t take his beatings any longer.

“I sell drugs and anytime he sees me discussing with a male customer, he goes irate.

“The person he lied he caught naked in my room is my customer. He met him in my shop and not in  our house.

“He embarrassed my customer by shouting at him that he was my concubine.

“He apologised to me that night when I threatened to walk out of our marriage. We made up and made love that same night.

“I later reported him to the police when he refused to release my customer’s handset which hindered him from reaching his contacts or carry out business transactions.

“My lord, I told the police he was not my husband because we got married in an illegal way.

“He presented himself to my legal husband as my brother when he came to pack my things from my husband’s house and moved them into his house.

“I own the generator he made mention of. I bought it with my money. I likewise gave him money for the deep freezer which he bought in his name, “she concluded.

The court president, Chief Agbaje Olasunkanmi, after listening to the duo adjourned the case till September 7.
