I am allergic to makeup

I am allergic to make-up! Each time I use lipstick, powder and other forms of makeup, I develop intense itching with rashes all over my face especially my lips which will get swollen. Please help me as I also want to appear beautiful like my other friends who use makeup.

It is true that some cosmetics may irritate the skin directly (by far the most common type of reaction) or induce an immune-mediated allergic response.

Usually, irritation would occur the first time a cosmetic is applied, as opposed to an allergic reaction that would require repeated exposures. Some individuals have extremely sensitive skin that seems to be intolerant to most cosmetics.

Individuals with some skin diseases seem to be intolerant to many cosmetics and makeup brands. However, more and more high-quality cosmetics are being produced on a daily basis which people do not show any sign of allergy to it.
