THE Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with one of the world’s most respected news and current affairs channels, Aljazeera media network, to achieve their common goals: the cessation of war and world peace.
The agreement was signed at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas, Seoul, Korea. It is HWPL’s first MOU with the global media which has in attendance; HWPL Chairman, Man Hee Lee, director of Aljazeera Center of Public Liberties and Human Rights(PL&HR) Sami Elhag, and senior producer of Aljazeera Center of PL&HR Mohamed EltayebElkhidir.
Mr. Elkhidir participated in the Proclamation Ceremony of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War last 14 March that marked the beginning of cooperation. Mr. Lee’s dedication was so moving that Aljazeera has steadily interacted with HWPL. It led to Mr. Elhag who helped formulate the Doha Declaration, specifically dedicated to protecting journalists worldwide. Finally, two journalists took part in the 2nd Commemoration of the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace(WARP) Summit and made MOU work.
Mr. Elhag and Mr. Lee, promised a close cooperation between the two organisations and emphasized the role of global networks to achieve world peace and appreciated the cooperation and help of Aljazeera. The idea to become one to achieve world peace and the important role of youth were strongly featured in their dialogue.
The purpose of MOU is that two organizations will lead the peace movements, spreading a culture of peace and peace education to all people, including women, youth, and religious leaders. HWPL’s peace activities will be broadcast in English, Arabic, Turkish etc. to over 140 countries across the globe and special documentaries about HWPL will be made while ways to protect journalists’ rights, one of the Aljazeera’s initiatives, will be discussed.
At this year’s Summit, leaders in the field of politics, law, religions, and civil society have gathered to discuss concrete action plans for each sector to advocate for a legally binding document in compatible with the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War(DPCW) for three days. Over 59 broadcasters particularly shared ideas how to draw people’s support as journalists in press conference and the media forum.
