Hundreds of APC members defect to PDP in Ondo

Ahead of the scheduled gubernatorial election slated for November 16th, the All Progressives Congress (APC) again suffered another setback as prominent members and indigenes of Ikare Akoko, on Monday, dumped the party for rival Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State.

Amongst the decampees are the wife of Olukare of Ikare Akoko, Olori Muina Momoh, 18 traditional high chiefs led by Chief Adubiaro, Prince Sina Momoh, five ward women leaders, and hundreds of others who openly declared their support for the PDP.

The new entrants stated that they decided to shift their alliance to the PDP  over the continued hardship in the land, saying the APC has entrenched poverty and caused pain for the people.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Adubiaro said that the desire to reverse the current hardship and the need for a rebirth for a better tomorrow informed their decision to part ways with APC, which has been ineffective in administering the nation.

It will be recalled that the decamping Ward Women leaders had resigned from the APC weeks ago, expressing their determination to join hands with the PDP candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, to rebuild Ondo State.

The women leaders said they resisted massive pressure from the governor to decamp because they believe that the APC has failed to deliver a good government.

Earlier in the Ugbe community, hundreds of people who joined the PDP with a symbolic burning of brooms promised to work tirelessly for the victory of the PDP in the November elections.

Receiving the new members, the former National Vice Chairman, South, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso, on behalf of the National Chairman, reassured the new entrants of equal status with other party members.

Commending their decision to join the PDP at a crucial time, Nigeria needs deliverance from clueless governance.

The governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi, commended the new members for taking a massive step of faith in the PDP by joining the party.

He urged them to work tirelessly for the victory of the party in the November 16th election.

He promised that under his watch, the people of the area will experience the dividends of good government as policies that will ensure a resurgence of economic activities and basic provisions of amenities would be enacted as soon as he takes over power in the state.
