How we’re redefining sustainability, environmental friendliness in hair market — Chiquitas Hairs

Chiquitas Hairs, a renowned hair extension brand owned by famous celebrity hair enthusiast, Paula Suowari, is making waves in the beauty industry by taking a stand for environmental sustainability.

With a commitment to strict environmental best practices in their hair production process, she has revealed, in a chat with Nigerian Tribune, that Chiquitas Hairs is setting a new standard for responsible and ethical practices in the hair extension industry.

Speaking with journalists recently, Paula said that in recent years, concerns have been raised about the environmental impact of hair production, particularly the sourcing of human hair and the use of chemical treatments.

She said, “Chiquita Hairs has recognised the need for change and has made it their mission to lead the way in promoting sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint of their products. To achieve this, we have implemented eco-friendly practices throughout our supply chain and established partnerships with sustainable hair suppliers who adhere to strict guidelines for ethical sourcing. By working closely with local communities, Chiquita Hairs ensures that the hair used in their extensions is obtained through fair trade practices, respecting the rights and welfare of the individuals involved.

“The brand has also invested in research and development to find alternatives to chemical treatments commonly used in hair processing. They are actively exploring natural and organic solutions that are safe for both consumers and the environment. By minimising the use of harmful chemicals, we aim to protect the health of their customers while also reducing pollution and water waste.”

Speaking on how they are also encouraging recycling to minimise waste, she said, “Chiquita Hairs has implemented recycling programs to minimise waste and promote circularity. They encourage customers to return their used hair extensions for recycling, where the hair can be repurposed or composted. This innovative approach not only reduces the environmental impact but also promotes a more sustainable and mindful consumption pattern.

“Our commitment to environmental best practices has not only garnered attention within the beauty industry but also among consumers. People are increasingly becoming aware of the need for sustainable choices and are actively seeking out brands that align with their values.”

By advocating for strict environmental best practices in hair production, Chiquita Hairs is setting an example for other brands in the beauty industry as their efforts highlight the importance of responsible sourcing, eco-friendly processes, and promoting a sustainable future.
