The Association of Cattle Dealers in Zamfara has lamented how cattle rustling derailed their business as a result of insecurity, saying members have lost over 500 million in the business.
The chairman of the association comrade Aminu Garba Gusau made the disclosure today in an interview in Gusau, said many of his members are now in a trying period of transaction of cattle business in the state.
According to him, Members of the association are now experiencing a shortage of buying and selling cows as a result of cattle rustling which bedeviled the state and northwest areas.
Comrade Aminu said, already their members have already distanced themselves from buying and selling suspected rustled cattle in the state, he assured to continue collaborating with security agencies to arrest the activities of cattle rustlers in the state.
“I can assured you that our members are law abiding and we warned them anybody found wanting will be arrested and hand over to the security agencies in the state for necessary action”.
According to him, they will not give room to any outsider who will come and collaborate to sell rustled cattle in any cattle market across the state.
“We have our members in each and every cattle market across the state who are monitoring business activities with regard to the sale of cattle, if they discover anything worthy of suspicion they will alert security attached to that market for prompt action.
“I assured the general public, God willing selling or buying rustled cattle would be a thing of the past in any of our cattle markets we would also ensure more revenue generation to the state government”.
On the issue of the newly established and inaugurated Zamfara state Community Protection Guards (CPG) The Cattle Dealers Association has lauded the efforts of Governor Dauda Lawal in the state.
Comrade Aminu Garba further assured the state government and security agencies of their association’s support in the fight against cattle rustling and any other form of criminal activity in the state.
