How to improve everything around you (Part two)

Published by

For the umpteenth time, on the condition that the way you are leading your life today was the way you led it many years ago, it means you have only grown old; you are yet to grow up. Growing old is free, but growing up is not. To grow up will cost you everything! And you cannot wake up one morning and just find that you have grown up. To grow up, you would need to set goals for it and totally follow through on your growth-goals.

Once again, to grow up, you would have to be very premeditated about it. And when you start growing up, everyone around you would know. How do I mean? Growth impacts positively on the way you think. It impacts positively on the way you talk. The way you dress will change. The way you carry yourself will change. The way you handle money will change. The way you relate to people within your sphere of influence will change.  Everything about you will change for the better.

To improve and advance everything around you, the first thing you would need to start working on is your attitude. Many people are stranded in life because they have refused to grow in this crucial area. One thing every all successful people have in common is a good and sterling attitude. I have met with too far many young bloods who want to become successful but are very careless about this area. Their attitude is very bad. This is what I usually tell them, “you aren’t going nowhere till you fix this crucial area of your life.”

The second area you will need to grow is in the area of strong and relevant relationships. You’d need to develop strong relationships, because who you know gives wings to what you know. You are not likely going to go farther in life than the kind of people you relate to. Even if God is going to bless and lift you, He is going to make it possible for you to meet with some crucial and relevant people. I remember when I was on campus. There was a little misunderstanding in a lecture room and as an effect of this, I overheard someone screaming and shouting that in the days ahead he wouldn’t need the help of anyone. When I heard this, I shook my head for him, because he truly did not know what he was saying.

The generation that is coming after mine does not value relationships at all. The emerging generation of Nigerians has made so many unnecessary enemies through social media. Many relationships have been shot dead as an effect of the advent of social media. Those who would help many young folks have been dragged in the mud on social media. Sweetheart, if you want to become successful in life, treat everyone who comes across your way with utmost respect. Do not join those who are abusing those who are relevant (without knowing) to their destiny. Remember, who you know gives wings to what you know. What you know is very powerful, but it is not sufficient to deliver success to you.

To also improve everything around you, you also need to fall in love with personal development. The greatest school you can attend on earth is the wall-less school of personal development. And over the years, I have met with too far many people who want to become successful but detest personal development. Success becomes achievable—when you fall in love with personal development.

Taking this issue a little further, kindly know that the goal should not be to expand your business; the goal should be to become better at what you are doing. When you become better at what you are doing, you’d automatically attract new customers. This will automatically expand your business. Many people want to expand their business without wanting to become better at what they are doing. When you get better, your target audience will demand that you get bigger in business. This is the easiest way to grow and expand your business.

As an author, how do you expand what you are doing? The first thing you need to do is to become a better writer. When you become a better writer, those who read through your books would increase in number—thereby expanding what you are doing. Expansion will take care of itself when you become better at what you are doing. I do know this like I do know my fingers.

Also, to grow in life, leadership and business, you need a mental shift. You got to shift from having a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. Leaders who know their onions do not have a fixed mindset. Leaders with a fixed mindset will move from being fresh to being stale. It is impossible for a leader with a fixed mindset to grow. It is the issue I am raising here that has made many leaders to lose their relevance. A leader with a fixed mindset will never embrace change.

As I begin to coast home, it is important that I let you know that you need to become very teachable, if you desire to become successful in the days to come. Show me either a man or woman, who is teachable, then I am definitely looking at a successful man or woman in front of me. Growth begins with being teachable. When I see someone who is not teachable, I do know that for either him or her to rise in life will be almost impossible. To become successful, be teachable. When you are before those who are ahead of you, let them do the talking while you do the asking and taking of note, because they do know what you do not know.

Lastly, if you can put into practice what I have come to share with you at this moment, then your being successful is sure. Buddy, till I come your way next Monday, see you where great and successful leaders are found.
