How to fund a minimum living wage

President Bola Tinubu is laying the foundation of Project Nigeria on sand! How many Federal Government workers are receiving N35,000 wage that the Minister of Information & National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said they will continue to receive pending the outcome of negotiations. Are the military, police and other security personnel paying the supreme price daily no longer federal workers? Again, FG plans fresh cash transfers for 75 million Nigerians. Failed promises galore! How can this administration build a safer, stronger and prosperous Nigeria on falsehood and with so much unintellitgent posturing? Should the FG  be more concerned with the welfare of 200 million Nigerians than  that of 1.2 million workers? Space will not permit a comprehensive analysis of the multiplier effects of an increase in workers wages. Everybody will be affected, productivity will increase, hardwork and honesty will be encouraged. Market women, farmers, artisans and many businesses will be affected due to increased patronage, except for lazy and idle hands.

How to fund it? The Accelerated Revenue Generated programme that funded the extra LCDAs created in Lagos State by the then governor Tinubu should be introduced on a national scale. Also, Capital Gains Tax, which at present is grossly under-explored, should be used. Corruption and politics have blocked the channels to Nigeria’s prosperity. President Tinubu has been given the opportunity to reinvent Nigeria by restructuring to make the country a strong economic power. Nigeria has become a weak country, hobbled by an unworkable unitary system of government.
