How teenage girl was killed, kept in Ghana-Must-Go bag in Delta

Police operatives in Delta State have begun an investigation on how Miss Favour Ogheneyenrohwo, an 18-year-old hairdressing apprentice was strangulated, stuffed in a Ghana-Must-Go bag and dumped in a refuse heap in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The killing, suspected to be for ritual, occurred last week Wednesday.

Marks were allegedly found around her neck and the pubic hair of the deceased missing, suggesting ritual purposes.

It will be recalled that Favour’s death came barely seven months after suspected ritualists murdered Elozino Ogege, a first-class final year student of the Mass Communication Department of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.

However, some sources have fingered the boyfriend of Favour as the probable mastermind of the gruesome killing.

A report said a relation of the deceased, one Miss Maureen Sunday, disclosed that Favour left home after receiving a call from the suspected boyfriend at about 10:00 a.m last Wednesday that they should meet at a park.

A police source in Abraka, who confirmed the incident, said the caller later traced the deceased to the road where she left with the boy and she did not return home that Wednesday.

Confirming the tragedy, the Delta State Police Commissioner, Mr Adeyinka Adeleke, was quoted as saying: “the lady in question was with the sister and she had a call. When she wanted to leave, she told her sister that it’s her boyfriend that she wanted to go and see.

“After some time, they did not see her. The next day, they saw her body tied inside a sack in a plantain/banana plantation and her boyfriend had run away.

“So, it is not a ritual, but a murder case. The physical sign in her body shows in the neck that she was strangulated.

“Maybe somebody tampered with her neck and threw her body into the bush and now the boyfriend disappeared till now. He is on the run.

“If he had nothing to do with what happened, why did he disappear? Why is he on the run? That is exactly what happened; not ritual killing, but a case of murder. Her body has been taken to the mortuary.”
