Tackling Malnutrition in Africa: A Health Data Project

In 2020, Precious gained invaluable experience at the Edo Innovation Hub, analysing data on malnutrition in Africa. Sponsored by Governor Godwin Obaseki’s initiative to foster a tech ecosystem in Edo State, this project addressed one of the continent’s most pressing health issues. By uncovering patterns and trends in malnutrition data, Precious contributed to policy recommendations aimed at combating hunger and improving health outcomes. This experience laid the foundation for his burgeoning career in data science.

Predicting the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election

One of Precious’s standout achievements was his involvement in a collaborative project leading up to the 2020 United States presidential election. Leveraging advanced predictive modelling techniques, the team accurately forecasted Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump. Their detailed insights, published in a Medium article, garnered significant attention, going viral and attracting numerous collaboration requests. This milestone underscored the power of data science in analysing societal trends and highlighted the team’s ability to communicate complex findings to broad audiences.

Rising Star at Hamoye AI Lab

Precious’s remarkable skills were recognised during a competitive internship at Hamoye AI Lab in 2020, where hundreds of aspiring data scientists participated. His exceptional performance placed him among the top five participants, earning him a prestigious data scientist position. This role allowed him to refine his expertise and apply cutting-edge machine learning techniques to impactful projects.

Advancing Through Explore AI Academy

Precious was among a select group of professionals chosen for a fully sponsored 11-month data science training programme at Explore AI Academy—the largest data science academy in Africa. This rigorous programme honed his skills in data analytics, machine learning, and cloud computing. His excellent performance in the programme earned him a scholarship for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) certification, further solidifying his expertise in cloud technologies. These achievements have enabled Precious to collaborate on innovative projects with top-tier companies, applying data-driven strategies to deliver impactful results.

Precious’s project portfolio is as varied as it is impactful. From working on malnutrition data analysis to credit fraud detection, he has applied data science solutions across health, finance, and governance. In every endeavour, he has showcased the versatility of data science in addressing diverse challenges and improving decision-making processes.

As a core member of the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) at the University of Benin chapter Nigeria, Precious embodies the values of global collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
