How Oyekan is capturing moments with Phoye photography

Titilola Foyeke Oyekan, widely recognised as Phoye, is the driving force behind Phoye Photography, a team of professional photographers renowned for their exceptional work in Lagos and Ibadan. Her brand has gained acclaim for its ability to capture moments with artistry and precision, making them a sought-after name in the photography industry.

Her passion for photography began during her school years revealing she loved taking pictures of herself in school. She further expresses that, “Towards the end of my service year in 2015, I thought of a vocation or business to venture into and my most preferred choice was photography since I already enjoyed doing it unprofessionally, I went for the training at Pixels Photography School without a second thought where I was retained as a staff after my training and internship due to how good I was already. Later on, I went for my masters and as soon as I was done, I went into photography business fully, did internship with Lypix and a few people in the field helped my photography career too especially ThinkIt photography and Smile Photography. They gave me lot of platforms to showcase my skills and I’m honestly grateful for the gift of them in my photography journey, I’m equally grateful for the gift of event planners that believe in my craft and keep recommending my brand and bringing me on board for the events they are in charge of’’

Her journey was significantly supported by her father, who believed in her vision and funded her photography school and initial photography gadgets irrespective of the formal school till he funded till Masters level.

Despite societal expectations due to how photography business was seen by some people then and his status as a retired High Court Judge he didn’t mind but stood by her, enabling her to pursue her dreams. Her mom and siblings also happens to be her greatest support systems.

Carving a Niche for herself by specializing in weddings, events, portraits, and occasionally documentary photography for a few high profile people, she has distinguished herself by focusing on areas that bring joy and satisfaction. By trying out various types of photography, Titilola found her niche in events and portraits, where her work resonates most with clients. Titilola’s career highlights include working with high-profile clients, such as politicians and famous business moguls. These experiences have significantly boosted her profile and attracted more prestigious clients. She has brought her lens to play which have enhanced her reputation some of which was the wedding of Mr Segun Awolowo’s daughter, the Pro Chancellor of Lead City University (Prof Jide Owoeye’s) daughter’s wedding, a senator’s wife’s retirement/book launch party recently, family events/photoshoots for a particular top sitting politician in Oyo state, Otunba Isaac Amao of Kwara State’s events, so also events that had King Sunny Ade, Saheed Osupa as their live bands differently and a host of others.

In an industry often dominated by Males, Titilola stands out with her rugged professionalism and respect for her craft. She adapts to her environment, ensuring she commands respect and delivers exceptional work, irrespective of gender dynamics.
