How Nigeria can rediscover itself- Anglican Bishop

Published by

Rt. Rev. Humphrey Olumakaiye, has urged Nigerians to draw closer to God so that the country will overcome its challenges.

Olumakaiye made the appeal, on Friday, at the ongoing three-day citywide crusade entitled Help From Above at the Cricket Pitch of Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

He said there was hope for a brighter future for the nation, urging Nigerians to return to God and embrace the path of righteousness.

“We should go back to the ancient path of obedience, dignity of labour, honesty, fear of God, love and also being faithful to the things of God.

“By the time we walk about the path of righteousness, the beauty of holiness will be seen in our lives and the society will be a better place for everyone to live,’’ he said.

The cleric urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the face of many challenges the country was faced with but to continue to pray for the country.

“We should continue to pray for this country and allow the light of God to illuminate the hearts of our leaders.

“When we have absolute faith in the words of the Lord, there will be a major change in the country.

“The country’s leaders should lead in the path of righteousness; they should have the fear of God and they should shun greed,’’ Olumakaiye said.

He said that Nigeria would blossom, excel, dominate and exceed the expectations of the world if Nigerians recognised the place of God and turn away from evils.

The Bishop took the sermon from Psalm 12: 1-2.

“To overcome the fear and darkness and come to Jesus who is the ever present help so as to enjoy God’s unlimited help, there is the need to depend solely on God,’’ Olumakaiye said.
