How music saved me —Aramide

For Afro-soul singer and songwriter, Aramide, the journey into music might have been rough over the years as she struggled to find her voice and put her songs on the lips of many. But today, the story is changing and the singer said she’s proud of the dimension her career has taken.

The ‘Ebami Gbowo Mi’ crooner in a series of tweets on Friday recalled how she battled to save her career even when all hope and everything about her life and progress seemed lost, adding that she was in a state of despair and hopelessness as her life looked like a nightmare.

In that moment of disbelief, Aramide said she had to channel all her energy into the only things she knows how to do best–music.

“I was numb-numb to emotions, numb to life. But there’s one thing about music…where words fail, music speaks. Music provokes lots of emotions and I channeled everything I felt at that point into my music,” she said.

Speaking further, the singer, who revealed she had been appointed into the Washington DC’s chapter of the Recording Academy Board of Governors, added that she was proud of the many lives she had touched and inspired through her songs.

“Today I’m happy to announce to you that after being an active voting member of the recording academy for years, this Monday, (tomorrow) I will be inducted into the Recording Academy (the GRAMMYs®) Governance Board. I will now be a part of the Governors for the Washington DC Chapter board,”she added.

She thanked her fans and everyone who have contributed to her career and shown her love

“To everyone who accepted my music and gave me a chance to inspire and tell beautiful stories, I am grateful,” she said.
