How military personnel were attacked during peace mission in Delta

Brigadier General, Tukur Gusau has explained how military personnel were attacked during a peace mission in miDelta.

This was released in a press statement via the @DefenceInfoNG X handle on Saturday, 16th March, 2024.

Tukur said that the soldiers from the 181 Amphibious Battalion went to OkUOMA community in Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, to help keep peace.

However, things turned bad when some young people from the community surrounded them and killed them on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

This happened during a fight between the Okuama and Okoloba communities nearby.

Even when more soldiers came to help, they were also attacked. The leader of the soldiers, called the Commanding Officer, and others like two Majors, a Captain, and twelve soldiers were killed too.

Reacting swiftly to the harrowing incident, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), wasted no time in issuing directives for an immediate investigation and apprehension of those responsible for the grievous crime.

The Delta State Government was promptly informed of the appalling occurrence, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
