The Primary Health Coordinator (PHC) of Minjibir Local Government Area of Kano State, Aliyu Lawan, has said that noodles, sweets, sugar, among others were given to children so as to take part in the immunisation exercise as the state targets 3.2 nillion under-five years for immunisation in the February Immunisation Plus Days Against Polio.
By the third day of the programme, 63,400 children, out of 65,000 target for this month had been recorded.
Lawan said that immunisation officials went to various markets, schools, football pitches within the council area to immunise children, adding that traditional rulers also played major roles by educating parents on the need to make sure that their children were immunised.
“There are enough vaccines to ensure the success of the immunisation exercise. With the commitment of health officials, the actual target would be achieved by the end of the programme,” he stated.
The Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr Ibrahim Tsanyawa, also said that the determination of the administration to ensure healthcare delivery and guard against polio in the state was working out as planned.
He expressed confidence that the 3.2 million children target would be met before the end of the month.
