In preparation for November 6, 2021, Anambra State governorship election, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, on Saturday evening emerged as the standard-bearer of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
The 108 delegates for the primary election which held in Awka started trooping into the venue from 4 pm to 7:05 pm when the election was finally conducted.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the standard-bearer, who emerged through voice acclamation, had no opponent in the contest.
Ubah, while speaking shortly after emerging as the standard-bearer of YPP, appreciated the delegates for their sacrifice for the party and the confidence reposed in him.
He equally thanked officials of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), for their presence during the exercise.
He said that he had a blueprint on education, security, infrastructural development and wealth creation which according to him would positively transform Anambra State, adding that the journey to dislodge the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), led by Governor Willie Obiano, had just commenced.
He said he was coming out for the election to win Anambra State for the YPP.
The YPP candidate expressed optimism that he would emerge victorious in the November 6 governorship election to govern the state.
The National Secretary of the party, Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, while congratulating the YPP candidate and the delegates for the peaceful conduct of the exercise, urged them to take the good news of the party to all the nooks and crannies of Anambra State ahead of the election.
Bamaiyi also appealed to the people of the state to give YPP a chance in the guber polls, noting that the major problem confronting Nigeria had to do with political parties that have no ideology and programme for the nation as YPP.
“YPP has her philosophy and ideology about leadership which is lacking in many political parties, all of us should work hard to get victory for our candidate on November 6, so that from there, the nation-building process can begin,” he concluded.
In their separate speeches, the state chairman, Prince Moses and Ubah’s media aide, Mr Kamie Chuka, charged the delegates to intensify their campaign strategy to ensure YPP emerged winner of the November 6, 2021 governorship election.
INEC officials led by Mr Damian Akhamhe, while expressing their satisfaction, described the process as peaceful.
The Commission, urged other parties, particularly, the APGA, PDP, APC and SDP to emulate YPP in their incoming primaries in order to give peace a chance.
Nigerian Tribune also gathered that the delegates from all the 21 local government areas of the state participated in the party’s primary election which was witnessed by INEC officials and security agencies.
