How I was duped over attempt to head paramilitary group — Pastor Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), recently shared a personal story about being deceived by a commandant of a paramilitary group.

In his message, Pastor Adeboye explained that his eagerness to be part of such a group led him to make hasty decisions without seeking God’s guidance, which resulted in him being duped.

He narrated how the man approached him through his secretary, claiming to represent a paramilitary group that had evolved from the Boy Scouts and needed spiritual leadership.

Pastor Adeboye, fondly known as Daddy GO, admitted that his love for the military from his younger years clouded his judgement, causing him to agree to be the head of the group without consulting God.

The man asked for funding, which Adeboye provided, only to later discover that it was a scam.

Reflecting on the experience, Pastor Adeboye acknowledged that while he lost money, the incident led to the creation of the Redemption City corps and a local police post—fulfilling a desire God had already planned for in His own time.

He remarked, “My desire to be part of a paramilitary group made me run ahead of God, but God had already purposed for Redemption City to have its own corps of chaplains as well as a local Police post.”

Adeboye emphasised the importance of trusting in God’s timing, noting that while his loss was financial, others might face graver consequences when acting outside of God’s will.

He concluded by reminding believers that God desires their well-being and prosperity, as expressed in Psalm 35:27 and 3 John 1:2, and urged them to wait for His perfect timing instead of rushing ahead.
