‘How I converted my passion into means of livelihood’

Published by

Tell us how you developed interest in entertainment?

The journey started during my days in the university as a musical artiste. This period afforded me the privilege of understanding the industry. I soon became relevant in school for major event planning where I saw my potential being showcased even more. I decided to stop music and work more in the background and I was even happier with that. During my times in the university, I was able to partake in various roles such as being the financial secretary of my departmental association, Nigerian Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) in my 200 level, also I was the financial secretary of my faculty electoral committee Nigerian Association of Science Students (NASS) in my 300 level. I was the social secretary of my departmental association, the Nigerian Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) in my 400 level. Also, I was the chairman of my departmental final year brethren committee. These seats of privilege gave me better insight to how entertainment should be as I was given responsibilities which I delivered excellently. I also met a lot of people in the entertainment industry during these years. My choice was made by strength, passion and ability.

Who are your mentors?

As much as I like entertainment, I have people whom I look up to as they drive me with how they push for greatness. They are Folorunsho Alakija, Tony Elumelu, Lola Olukuewu, Femi Otedola and Oba Otudeko.

Tell us what you do.

I own a media outfit which sees to various aspects of entertainment and advertisement. I founded Media Tank Limited to enable me convert my passion into a means of livelihood.

What challenges have you faced in your craft.

Getting to the top comes with various challenges but then the major one I have been battling is allowing brands to believe in a start-up like mine. A lot would rather go for those in the business before now but then, all challenges must be overcome and that’s why I strive daily to be a better person and build my brand even better.

What projects are you involved in?

Currently, I’m involved in a major project to build a bridge between fun seekers and small scale businesses. This is to bring about a relaxed atmosphere for communication and networking. It would also give fans the privilege of meeting their favorite celebrities and role model in a meet and greet session. The event is themed Grill Fest Gidi. Also, the first edition of my magazine would be published.

What would you hope to have achieved in the next 10 years?

In the next 10 years, I want to be able to have a good family and have my business amongst the top businesses in the country  as I strive to be a top entrepreneur before age 40.

How do you relax?

I spend time with friends at the beach if I feel like it’s been a while I last saw them. I also stay at home a lot and sleep to get stress off my body. The cinemas are also one of my favorite places to relax. Sometimes, I go out to drink with the boys.

Background

I was born in Lagos, Nigeria but an indigene of Ijebu Mushin in Ogun State. I’m the first child and only son and have three sisters. I had my primary and secondary education in Mushin, Lagos. I studied Computer Science at Olabisi Onabanjo University. Unlike many from where I was raised, I had a good education and was trained well to see the positive side of life and fight to get to the top.
