Horror in Ebonyi: Widow allegedly murdered for refusing sex

MR Friday Chukwu an indigene of Azuitumo, Oshiegbe in Ezza North LGA, has allegedly murdered Mrs Ngozi Peter a widow for refusing him sexual intercourse.

A resident of the area and eyewitness said the man’s sexual advances began shortly after the death of the woman’s husband, five years ago but following the victim’s resolution to keep to herself she then outrightly rejected the move until the fateful morning when she was trailed to her farm and killed by the assailant.

He further disclosed that after the dastardly act, the suspect who seemed not to know what he was doing again went to his brother in law place where he opened up and confessed to the crime.

According to our source, the discovery of the woman’s lifeless body in her farm automatically caused serious fear in the area, the apprehension through which youths and other residents embarked on thorough combing until Mr Friday was eventually caught and handed over to police.

Mr Uchenna Anochie, brother in law of deceased told us that the situation was disheartening as the widow who had been struggling to cope with challenges of life could be gruesomely killed in such a heartless manner.

He, therefore, called on legal officers in the state, other public-spirited organisations as well as Federation International Women Lawyers (FIDA) and legal counsel of Nigeria Ebonyi State branches respectively to help so that justice would be found in the case.
