Hoodlums disrupt SDP guber campaign rally in Ogun

Hoodlums on Friday disrupted the campaign rally of the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Ogun State, Prince Rotimi Paseda and carted away empowerment tools.
The rally,  held at Oyingbo junction, in Ijebu -Ode, was the kick off of Paseda’s guber campaign.
Tribune Online gathered that the thugs stormed the venue of the rally with dangerous weapons, shot into the air to scare those in attendance away and carted away items such as sewing machines, hairdressing dryers, refrigerators and the likes.
The whole atmosphere was thrown into confusion, as people ran for their safety and the programme was abruptly brought to an end.
The governorship candidate was shielded by the Police and other security agents on the ground, while the hoodlums, were reported to be political thugs hired by an opposition party.
Speaking on the development, Paseda, said the disruption was the handiwork of an undisclosed opposition governorship candidate.
He explained that the action of the hoodlums was a pure indication that his growing popularity had become a threat to opposition parties.
Paseda appreciated the effort of the Police and promised to lodged a complaint with the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, on the ugly scenario.
“In my state most especially my senatorial districts we have never been attacked before, we are very peaceful, I only associate with peace.
“I think we started the campaign very fine until we saw a set of people who are not our party members. We try to manage and calm them but they are shouting opposition slogans and the way it was done I think it was a coup plan because I’ve never seen that before attacking our campaign.
“We have permission to the campaign at that spot and the police, TRACE, Vigilante and Civil Defence officers were on ground, but I  thank God nobody died.
“I think we need to commend the Police because they have really stepped up their game by bringing the situation under control and ensure everybody safety,” he added.
