Benue State Resident Electoral Commissioner to INEC, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda has said that some hoodlums camouflage as military recently attacked the commission in the state.
The REC stated this on Wednesday in Makurdi during a press briefing.
He, however, allayed the fear of the people that the commission has decided to accredit security men during the election so as to curb infiltration of hoodlums.
Yolanda who was answering questions about the possibility of hoodlums camouflage as police said, ‘this is true, recently our vehicle which was conveying non-sensitive materials was attacked along Logo area by people in military uniform’.

The REC said that the commission was ready for the Saturday election stressing that 22,000 ad-hoc staff made up of able people and People Living With Disabilities (PLWD) have been recruited to man the 5,102 polling units across the state.
“We have also put up measures to ensure that voting commences concurrently in all the 5,102 polling units across the 23 local governments of the state while noting that results of polls Will be transmitted electronically and in written forms.

“l want to caution everyone against vote buying or selling, rigging or any action that can contravene the electoral laws and any sign of malpractices would be reported accordingly.
“Am happy to inform you that about 22,000 ad-hoc staff including people living with disabilities will be deployed across the 5,102 polling units for the smooth conduct of the election”, REC stated.
The REC said that the vulnerable groups including physically pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, the aged and those living with disabilities; visually impaired, deaf and dumb, would be given special attention on the day of elections to enable them to vote without stress.
