A scholar, Sheikh Abdurasaq Mohamed, has cautioned religious organisations against giving honours to people of questionable character in the society despite their wealth or positions.
Sheikh Mohamed gave the warning last weekend in lecture he delivered in Afin Akoko, Ondo State, at the installation and turbaning of an Abuja-based businessman, Malam Sikirulahi Olasehinde Kilani as the Balogun Adinni Musulumi of Afin Akoko.

The cleric urged the title holder to spend part of his resources in the cause of Allah and humanity.
The chairman of the occasion, the Ondo State Commissioner for Natural Resources, Hon. Rasheed Badmus, commended the choice of Kilani for the title, describing him as hard-working, religious.
The National Organising Secretary of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Alhaji Ibrahim Kilani, commended the organisers for honouring people who have passion for the propagation of Islam.
Kilani, however, noted that the titles are only an incentive to stimulate the honourees to work harder for Islam and not an avenue to rival the spiritual leaders.
The principal of the Federal Government Girls College, Akure, Mrs Iyabo Ayoola, lauded the Afin Akoko Muslim community for rewarding Muslims for contributing to the growth of Islam.
