‘Hold Nigeria’s leaders accountable for insecurity’

Published by

Bishop of Ajayi Crowther Diocese, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Right Reverend Olukemi Oduntan, has called on Nigerians to hold their leaders responsible for the state of insecurity in the country.

He stated this at the third session of the third synod of Ajayi Crowther Anglican Diocese, on Friday, at the Cathedral of St. Paul, Oke-Igbagbo, Iseyin, Oyo State, which had as its theme: I Look for a Man.

According to Bishop Oduntan, “The ceaseless many barbaric and senseless killings of Nigerians, with the high number of casualties in Christian-dominated communities, speak much about leadership in Nigeria. The leadership of the country is to be held accountable for the state of insecurity across the country.

“The president, our leader, is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, and by implication, is the chief security officer of this country. He needs to convince Nigerians beyond reasonable doubt that their lives, properties and future are secured under the present government.

“If truly we have security apparatus in Nigeria, the culprits of this callous act should have been identified, arrested and dealt with. This is the only way to bring justice to the grieved.”

He level lamented the state of corruption in the and called on government at all levels to work towards ensuring that they redefined the country inthe steady path of development.
