Events are showing that Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bolt can be considered as the greatest and fastest athlete of all time.
The top athlete, who is waiting to cap his two gold with a third from the 4×100 relays has become the first athlete to win the men’s 200m three times in a row at the Olympic Games.
According a record from the IOC `Daily Fact Review’, he has added to his recently completed hat-trick in the 100m. Bolt collected the eighth Olympic gold medal of his career.
In athletics, only Paavo Nurmi of Finland and American Carl Lewishave won more. Both have nine to their names.
Bolt became the first athlete to win a specific individual event at seven successive Olympic Games (OG) and world championships (WCh): he has won the men’s 200m in 2008 (OG), 2009 (WCh), 2011 (WCh), 2012 (OG), 2013 (WCh), 2015 (WCh) and 2016 (OG).
He has joined Pietro Mennea of Taly, 1972, 1980 in winning a medal in the men’s 200m eight years after their first medal.
Bolt, at just over 29 years old, has surpassed Michael Johnson of the U.S, 28 years, in 1996 as the oldest gold medallist in this event. (NAN)
