A civil servant, Mrs Patience Ibrahim, has dragged her husband, Talpha Atega, before a customary court in Jikwoyi, Abuja, Federal capital Territory (FCT), for allegedly dating her friend.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Patience, in her divorce suit, accused her husband of being a flirt.
“My husband is a womaniser. I feel humiliated that he is dating my friend.
“I pray the court to grant my prayer of divorce and custody of the only child in our marriage,” she said.
The petitioner told the court that her husband does not provide for the family.
“I am the one paying the house rent, school fees and hospital bills. I also feed and clothe our daughter.
“I don’t love him anymore,” she stated.
The respondent, Talpha, a clergyman, in his defense denied the allegations.
“I now have a new job. I’ve been contributing towards taking care of my family to the best of my ability,” he said.
The presiding judge, Labaran Gusau advised the couple to explore alternative means of settlement, for the sake of their daughter.
He then adjourned the case.
