Dr Omobude, PFN President
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has lamented the state of insecurity in the country.
National President of the PFN, Reverend Dr Felix Omobude, disclosed this in a statement issued last week in Benin City, where he condemned recent killing of scores of innocent Nigerians in Plateau and Zamfara states, as well as in other parts of the country, while calling on the government to ensure that the perpetrators were brought to justice.
“President Muhammadu Buhari should immediately bring the mindless killings going on in the country to a halt because Nigerians’ lives are very important. Never in the history of Nigeria has the lives of Nigerians been so very cheap. Today, people in any guise can kill with impunity and get away with it. Hundreds of people are being slaughtered at regular intervals, and the criminal elements seem not to be brought to justice.

“There is need for our government and security forces to be proactive, instead of reactionary. They should learn to be on top of the situation by acting before the criminals strike. Besides, there is need for an urgent review of the nation’s security apparatus so as to make it more effective.
“President Buhari and other politicians, particularly those in the All Progressives Congress (APC), should attach the same vigour they are giving to the 2019 campaigns, to issues relating to the safety of lives and property of Nigerians. How can we be campaigning for the 2019 elections when the nation is on fire?” he queried
He also called on the Federal Government to ensure the release of Leah Sharibu and condoled with the families of the bereaved.
He, however, enjoined all Nigerians to be peace loving, eschew bitterness and refrain from reprisal attacks to enable the government perform its constitutional responsibilities.
