Health workers urged to work with executive, legislative for effective healthcare delivery

EFFECTIVE implementation of health programmes will be made possible when health workers in the county make the necessary sacrifices and build a friendship with both executive and legislative arms of government.

Speaking during inauguration of new executive of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental  Practitioners (NAGGMDP), the new president of the association, Dr Abubakar Ayinla, also said that friendly relationship among health workers, irrespective of calling or cadre, was necessary to deliver effective health care at all levels of care in the country.

Dr Ayinla, who said that members of the association are responsible for health care delivery of more than 85 per cent of the populace who seek services at the primary and secondary systems of care in the nation’s health system, called on members to be more dedicated to duties.

“At this juncture, let me remind us all that as front line health workers, we are the first point of call in policy formulations at the national level, we are also the drivers in its implementation across the states. Hence, we must make necessary sacrifice and build friendship across the strata for effective implementation along with the executives,  the legislative arms of governance and amongst ourselves as health workers, irrespective of calling or cadre but with the golden objective of delivering effective health care at all levels of care in the country,” he said.

The new NAGGMDP president, who sought cooperation and understanding of members to move the association forward, promised to listen, learn and synergise accordingly to achieve desired progress.

Dr Ayinla also announced constitution of a presidential working group, comprising of all members who either rescinded their interest or were defeated in the contest, to work directly with him as president and take various responsibilities towards strategic implementation and execution of planned activities.
