Eniola alleged that her husband failed to care for her and their children and totally abandoned them.
The defendant refused to show up in court after being served a court summon twice.
“My lord, my husband and I had a rough beginning when we got married. He lost his job few months after we got married and we were financially stressed.
“I stood by him and we ran our home with my meager income. Things didn’t improve throughout the time we had our first and second children.
“He got a job in the bakery and was selling bread but sales was not high as expected. I, therefore, helped him in hawking bread in the evening, “she said.
“Our fortune gradually improved and we jointly built a house. But immediately we finished building this and we moved in, he sent me and our children packing and rented a house for us. He then brought in his new wife.
“My lord, he abandoned us there and never cared how the children and I survived. I took up the challenge of feeding and training our children in school.
“He warned me never to come near his house and when I told him I was coming to court, he threatened to kill me.
“I pray this honourable court to separate us and make him responsible for our children’s upkeep.
“I also plead with the court to restrain him from harassing me, “Eniola concluded.
Giving his judgment, the judge, Mr Sulaiman Apanpa dissolved their marriage and granted the plaintiff custody of their four children.
The defendant was instructed to give their children N10, 000 monthly for their feeding and be responsible for their other demands.
