Hardship: PDP chieftain distributes 5,000 bags of rice to Osun residents

Residents of the 10 local government areas that make up Osun Central Senatorial District have benefitted from 5,000 bags of rice to ease the pressure of high food costs.

The donation was made by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ibraheem Adekunle, through his foundation, the Ibraheem Adekunle Foundation.

The secretary of the foundation, Taofeeq Ekundayo, while presenting the food items to the leaders of the party from the 10 local government areas on behalf of the chairman of the group, said the gesture was to support the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke in ameliorating the suffering of the people.

He said, “This project is just being done to assist the good people of Osun Central and further deepen the good governance by our amiable governor, Dr Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke.

“So the impact of this is just to make sure the people of Osun Central enjoy the dividend of democracy from our governor to further endear him to them and make sure that the people feel the impact of Mr Governor more. The cost of buying food items is high due to the harsh economy.

“But this initiative is helping to ease people’s burden. We are distributing 5000 bags of rice to all the 10 local government areas in Osun Central Senatorial District.”

In his remarks at the event, the South West PDP Zonal Youth Leader, Seyi Bamidele, commended the donor, noting that the gesture has gone a long way in addressing the challenge of inadequate food in the district.

Bamidele, who is also a senior special assistant to the governor, while commenting on the feedback from the people, said the initiative has been greeted with positive reviews since it started some months ago.

“The feedback is awesome because of the sincere motive behind it. We have really gotten a lot of positive feedback from people, especially those from the rural areas,” Bamidele said.
