Hardship: NGO urges Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu

Published by

A Non-Governmental Association (NGO) under the auspices of the Civil Society for Credible Elections (CSCE) has stated that Nigerians are currently enduring challenging times, but they should exercise patience with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he addresses the present challenges inherited from the former President Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari’s regime.

In a press conference held in Kano on Friday, the group’s spokesperson, Hon. Aliyu Yusuf Umar, disclosed, “It is true that the populace of the country is facing hardship.” The group emphasised that Nigerians should understand that President Tinubu inherited these challenges from the previous administration but is determined to overcome them.

Umar acknowledged, “The hardship Nigerians are experiencing is partly due to the global economic meltdown, compounded by some shortcomings of the last administration under former President Buhari.”

He highlighted President Tinubu’s efforts, stating, “Nigerians are witnesses to the steps and policies of the present administration aimed at addressing the country’s socio-cultural, economic, and political issues.” Umar added, “His government’s policy framework on security, education, administrative machinery, food security, monetary policies, and general welfare for citizens are clear indications of his sincere desire to achieve set goals.”

Umar stressed that what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu needs from all Nigerians at this time is patience, cooperation, and understanding of his administration’s reform policies. He expressed confidence that these reforms, when implemented strategically and competently, will soon make all Nigerians proud of their beloved country.

We want to use this opportunity to assure Nigerians that our organisation will continue to play its civic role in advising government and institutional blocks as part of our civic responsibility to society.

We will feel indebted if reference is not made to those who always choose to criticise without considering the long-term benefits of government programmes.

Finally, we are calling on Nigerians to cooperate with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his effort to reshape Nigeria.
