A man who climbed a mast in Abuja, Nigeria, threatening to take his own life, will undergo a mental health assessment.
Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, who was taken into custody by the FCT police command, will be evaluated at the Social Development Secretariat (SDS).
If found to be mentally stable, he will face charges for attempted suicide, disturbing public peace, and incitement.
The spokesperson of the command SP Josephine Adeh revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.
The police commissioner urges residents to remain law-abiding and avoid actions that could lead to the breakdown of law and order.
Yushau’s protest was sparked by the removal of fuel subsidy and the ongoing insurgency in the northeast and northwest regions.
