Harassment saga: Reno Omokri’s ex-wife shows solidarity with Natasha

Published by

Toukpe Onuwaje, the ex-wife of Reno Omokri, has expressed her support for Senator Natasha Akpoti, who has been at the centre of a sexual harassment controversy involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a message of solidarity posted on her Facebook page on Sunday, Onuwaje praised Senator Natasha’s bravery, which she described as “inspiring.”

She stated that Senator Natasha is not alone, adding that her voice matters.

Onuwaje concluded by sending love and prayers to the senator.

She wrote, “Your bravery is inspiring! Sharing your story takes immense courage, and I’m so proud of you for speaking out.

“Remember, you’re not alone, and your voice matters. Keep shining, and know that you’re making a difference! Sending love and prayers 🥰🙏🏽.”

This comes just hours after Onuwaje’s ex-husband, Reno Omokri, distanced himself from the ongoing controversy.

Tribune Online reports that Omokri, who claimed to have had a similar encounter with Senator Natasha, stated on Saturday that he had received numerous interview requests from major media outlets regarding the allegations against Akpabio.

While recounting his experience with the senator, he stated that his dispute with the lawmaker began after he rejected advances from a woman who was a friend of hers.

According to him, Natasha subsequently accused him of sexually harassing her at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa during a reception for then-Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta in May 2014.

Omokri, however, said he was able to counter the allegation by providing evidence that he was in the United States at the time, serving as former President Goodluck Jonathan’s special envoy.

He added that after he presented his passport and travel documents, the senator deleted her allegations and a video in which she had insulted him and his family.

Omokri said the matter was later resolved through an out-of-court settlement facilitated by a prominent clergyman and an influential figure from his ethnic nationality.
