Hajj 2019: Sokoto records one death, airlifts all 3495 back home

The Leader of Sokoto State Pilgrims to 2019 Hajj (Amirul Hajj), who is also the State Deputy Governor, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya has described the just concluded 2019 Hajj Exercise as hitch-free and very successful.

The Deputy Governor stated this in his remarks immediately the last batch of 235 Pilgrims arrived Sokoto from Jeddah airport to mark the total Airlift of all Pilgrims to Sokoto from Saudi Arabia.

According to him, “since 21 July this year when Governor Rt. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal inaugurated the first flight, the exercise continued to record success as all 3,496 Pilgrims were airlifted to Madina, the Prophet Muhammad city for visitations of Historical sites before the commencement of the Hajj.

“In the entire 2019 Hajj Exercise, Sokoto lost only one elderly woman in Madina due to severe ailment and was buried in Madina.

“The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal through the state Pilgrim welfare agency has made a befitting arrangements of Hotels to House Sokoto Pilgrims close enough to Ka’abah to ease transportation and doing religious rites by the Pilgrims.”

He, however, thanked Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for giving him and his team the mandate to serve the People of Sokoto and also the Governor’s constant enquiries of the well-being of his pilgrims throughout the Exercise.
