Gunmen kill recharge card distributor in Bayelsa

Gunmen suspected to be robbers have brutally killed the major distributor of recharge cards in Bayelsa State, Cletus Alake, and locked his lifeless body inside his shop close to the popular Ekeki Motor Park in Yenagoa.

According to his staff that discovered his body on Monday, said the suspected robbers stabbed him multiple times till he died and covered his body with cloths before carting away an undisclosed amount of cash, his mobile phones and a Highlander jeep.

Tribune Online learnt that Alake usually goes to his shop on Sunday nights to print recharge cards he distributes across Bayelsa and must have been monitored and trailed to his shop where they robbed and killed.

When Tribune Online visited the scene of the crime on Monday morning, residents of the area, shop owners and motorists were seen mourning the brutal killing, calling on security authorities to give the family of the deceased justice.

The body of the deceased who is the owner of First Choice Communication and said to be in his late 40s has been evacuated and deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Yenagoa.

Confirming the incident, the Bayelsa State Police Command Spokesman, Musa Mohammed an ASP, said the Police have begun an investigation into the matter.
