Gunmen kill INEC official returning from election field in Delta

Some unknown gunmen have reportedly opened fire on a bus conveying officials of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), killing one and injuring others in Delta State.
Among the injured INEC officials were some corps members who are now recuperating in an undisclosed hospital in the state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Delta, Mr. Monday Tom, confirmed the incident to journalists on Monday, 27th February 2023, shortly after the result of Ukwani Local Government Area was announced
He said, “There were incidents of attack in Ukwani Local Government Area where one of us died on their way coming after the election.
“The gunmen opened fire at their bus, killing one and injuring the corps members.
“The corpers are now receiving treatment but we are planning on  how to move the injured corps members to a hospital in Asaba.”
Meanwhile, 14 local governments have been officially announced by the INEC, with LP winning 10 and the PDP won four.
