Gunmen kill Idah polytechnic director of works

UNKNOWN gunmen have invaded the home of the newly promoted director of works, the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi state, Mr Solomon Sani, and shot him dead.

The gunmen were said to have stormed the deceased’s residence on Tuesday night and shot him several times.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the people, who invaded the area at about 10 pm shot Sani many times at close range and ensured he died before leaving.

It was further gathered that the victim has just been promoted to the position of director of works by the authorities of the Federal Polytechnic.

Sources added that the deceased was eminently qualified among other top contenders for the position because he was chartered engineer before his untimely death in Idah.

The polytechnic community was said to have been thrown into mourning as Sani was said to be a very humble and respectful personality in the institution.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya, said Sani was assassinated by unknown gunmen.

He stated that the brother of deceased reported to police in Idah after the suspected gunmen invaded his residence and killed him.

The Police spokesman said investigation had commenced immediately, adding that the police was on the trail of the assailants.
