Gunmen launched an attack on Faruruwa village in the Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State on Thursday night, resulting in the death of a prominent businessman and the abduction of a young boy.
According to an eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, the assailants not only killed the businessman but also kidnapped a young boy while another individual sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh during the violent incident.
The source indicated that the assault occurred while the village’s weekly market was in full swing, attracting traders and residents from surrounding areas.
The armed assailants stormed the market in a surprise ambush, opening fire and causing panic among the crowd.
During the incident, the attackers shot and killed Alhaji Rabilu, a well-known businessman in the area.
A local resident, who also requested anonymity for safety reasons, described the village as being in a state of deep grief.
Although such attacks have occurred in the past, this latest incident has sent shockwaves through the already vulnerable community.
The injured victim was promptly taken to Bichi General Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Preparations are underway for the burial of Alhaji Rabilu, which is expected to take place today through Friday morning, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Kano State Police Command have been unsuccessful, and no official statement regarding the incident has been issued.
