Gunmen kill 4, injure 7 in Kaduna

Four people were killed in an attack by unknown gunmen on Sunday in  Kutura village, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna state, while seven others were said to have sustained injuries from gunshots.
Findings gathered that the hoodlums invaded the community at about 8:00 pm and open fire on the youths who were said to be dancing in celebration of the new year.
Awema Dio Maisamari, president of the Adara Development Association (ADA), who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview, described the attack as unfortunate.
“It was around 8:00 pm, the youths were celebrating the new year, they were dancing in anticipation of the new year, suddenly the gunmen invaded the community and opened fire at them.
“Four people were killed on the spot while seven others were injured,” Maisamari said.
According to him, before the attack, there was a recorded audio message,  allegedly, from a man, informing about impending attacks on some communities in the area.
He said the recorded audio message listed the areas to be attacked, adding that Kutura community was one of them.
He said the latest attack had confirmed fears being expressed about the security situation in Kajuru Local Government Area.
It will be recalled that the attack was coming few hours after the state governor, Mallam Nasir Elrufai held a meeting with the people of the area about the need to embrace peace.
The governor was quoted as saying that they will deal decisively with those instigating trouble in the area.
His appeal was coming barely some days when the curfew imposed in the area by the state government following the eruption of violence was lifted.
