…demand N100m ransom
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, on Friday evening, abducted two persons on their farmland in Oba Ile community along Airport Road, in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The two men including a farm estate owner, Mr. Olanrewaju Oyeleye, 50, and his farm manager, were said to be abducted on the farm by the suspected hoodlums and whisked to an unknown destination.
A source close to the victims disclosed that the abductors contacted the families of the victims on Saturday, demanding the sum of N100 million as ransom to secure the freedom of the two men.
The source disclosed that Oyeleye, who had spent several years abroad, returned to Nigeria, some four years ago and decided to invest in the mechanised farming business.
Confirming the abduction of the two victims, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, described the development as unfortunate.
He, however, said men of the Amotekun have been drafted into the forest to secure the release of the two men.
He said: “The kidnapping of the farmer and his manager happened in the early hours of Thursday, and we have been on it ever since.
“Our men are working tirelessly to ensure the victims are rescued from the abductors, as we are tracking their location.”
