Published by

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Sunday evening abducted a woman and her stepson, Mrs Olawumi Adeleye and Destiny Paul, in Osi community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo state.

The two victims who were abducted on Sunday evening by the gunmen have whisked them away into the forest while on their way to the church.

The family of the victims, raised the alarm over their disappearance on Sunday morning when they could not be found in the church, and a search party was organised for them.

However, it was gathered that the abductors of 25-year-old Olaleye and 14-year-old Destiny, contacted the husband of the victim, to let him know that they were in their custody.

A family source confirmed that the kidnappers had contacted the family, demanding for the sum of N10m before the two victims can regain their freedom.

He, however, said the kidnappers did not give room for negotiation after the demand of N10m, saying “they just switched off the phone and there was no communication since then”

The traditional ruler of the Community,  the Iresi of Osi, Oba David Olajide who confirmed the incident said that the two victims were abducted by suspected Fulani herdsmen

The monarch who described the incident as strange and unfortunate said the community never recorded such incident

He said, “It happened along Osi/Owo road, very close to Akure airport, the two victims were kidnapped around 5:20 pm yesterday (Sunday’s evening).”

He said that the incident had been reported to the police for action.

However, all efforts to confirm the development from the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) were not successful as all his mobile phones were switched off.

Osi Community is less than two kilometres to Akure airport.
