GUNMEN suspected to be kidnappers on Saturday evening abducted three people along Auga-Ikare Akoko road in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victims who were in Toyota Corolla car and Mitsubishi pick up Van were said to be returning from a wedding ceremony in Ikare Akoko when their abductors ordered three of them out of their vehicle.
The armed hoodlums, however, released one of the victim’s wives and her two children in order to report the incident to their family and for possible negotiation.
The incident was reported at the police station while the security operatives from the area swing into action immediately, combing the nearby forest to rescue the victims.
According to a source, the police in Ikare in conjunction with vigilante group combed the bush to rescue the victims and arrest the criminals but said all their efforts were not successful.
Confirming the abduction of the victims, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr Femi Joseph, said the state police command has commenced an investigation into the abduction of the there victims.
He said detectives from the state police command are on the trail of the hoodlums with a promise to bring them to book.
