Gunmen abduct Law School student, others in Kogi

Published by

GUNMEN believed to be kidnappers have abducted a Law School student and other people who were travelling on Kabba-Obajana Road in Kogi State.

Saturday Tribune gathered that the incident happened on Tuesday as the gun-bearing men stopped vehicles, got hold of some passengers, including the Law Student whose name was given as Motunrayo Rafiu, and escaped with them into the bush.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State police command, William Ayah, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident to Saturday Tribune on Friday.

Ayah said many travellers were kidnapped but the police did not have the actual number of the victims.

He also said he could not confirm if the Law School student, Motunrayo, was among those that were kidnapped during the Tuesday incident.

But he said that the lady’s parents reported to the police her captors are demanding for a ransom.

He said: “Many passengers were kidnapped on Kabba-Obajana Road on Tuesday but we don’t have the actual number of people kidnapped and also we don’t know if the Law School student was among those kidnapped.

“Her parents reported the incident to us and said the suspects are demanding ransom from them before she could be released.”

Saturday Tribune gathered that Motunrayo, who recently graduated from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, was on her way to resume at the Abuja campus of the Nigeria Law School when she was kidnapped.

She had left her home in Ogun State on Tuesday morning for Abuja and was kidnapped on Kabba-Obajana Road in Kogi State in the afternoon.
