Published by

Five family members; Ibrahim Dakwoi Bukpe, Monica Ibrahim, John Dakwoi Bukpe, Yabuku Dakwoi Bukpea and Margaret Yakubu, were, on Monday, around 9 pm abducted by gunmen alleged to be bandits in the Bukpe community of Wako Ward in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This is coming after five months when Tribune Online reported on March 30, 2022, how bandits invaded the same village, and headed to Village head, Alhaji Hasan Shamdozhi’s palace and abducted him and three others, how the Chief was set free after an undisclosed amount was paid to the bandits after spending 28 days in their den.

A member of the victims’ family, who spoke to newsmen narrated how the gunmen in their numbers wielding sophisticated weapons invaded the community and abducted the victims from two compounds, how he was also captured, but when they trekked some distance away from the village, the bandits asked him if he could raise the ransom for all the victims when he said yes, they asked him to go back home.

The Village Head of Bukpe, Alhaji Hasan Shamdozhi, confirmed the incident when he said; “I just entered my house not more than 10 minutes when I heard gunshots across the community. Later a report came to me that five people from the same family were abducted.”

He said the attack on the community was the fourth within the last one year while appealing to the government to come to the aid of his people by providing them with security.

As at the time of filing the report, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to reply to message sent to her concerning the incident.
