Gunmen abduct female Customs officer in Lagos

A female official of the Nigerian Customs Service, Comfort Alaba, was on Wednesday abducted by gunmen in FESTAC town area of Lagos State.

The woman, who was until the incident attached to the Tincan Island Command SDV, was reportedly with her two daughters when the gunmen struck.

The abduction, which took place in front of the Tastee Fried Chicken on 22 Road, created serious panic as the abductors shot into the air to scare residents.

One of the daughters of the abducted customs official took to the social media to announce the abduction of her mother.

The daughter, Faith Alaba, who used a tweeter account “@Pyt_Faith, appealed to Nigerians to help be on the lookout for the operational vehicle of the kidnapper.

Faith said:  “My mother was kidnapped this evening in front of me and my younger sister in a black Murano SUV. Please help me.”

She added: “We were at TFC at 22 Road, Festac outside in the car when two men came around. My sister ran out of the car. My mother was still screaming and struggling when the other one pointed a gun at me.”

The daughter also stated that “we ran away and by the time we looked back as we were screaming for help, they zoomed off with her inside.”

“Please reach me and my family here on 08166098469. She was in a black Murano SUV. The registration number is EPE103CY. God, please don’t let my enemies laugh at me. She is everything to us.”

When contacted, Faith said, “it was around 8.00a.m on 22 Road by TFC when two unmasked men came out of their vehicle with guns and kidnapped my mother.

She also stated that  “I saw them at close range but I won’t be able to recognise them. I don’t know if anyone has any grudge against my mum but I am appealing to them to please set her free.

“We have not been contacted by the kidnappers. “My mother is small statured. She is gap-toothed and has a huge birthmark on her arm, which is shaped like an arrow.”

The spokesperson of the Tincan Island Command of the Nigerian Customs Service, Uche Ejesieme, confirmed the abduction of the woman to newsmen .

She added: “The lady is attached to SDV, one of Custom’s bonded terminal, attached to Tincan Island Command.
