Some kidnappers have kidnapped an Islamic cleric, Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi and his younger brother while conveying a corpse in Kogi state.
The cleric and others were conveying the corpse of the late Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, from Lokoja on Sunday to Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu local government area of the state for burial when they ran into the kidnappers.
One of the occupants of the car who escaped abduction disclosed that the incident occurred just Oshokoshoko, along the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road.
He explained that their car was moving ahead the vehicle carrying the corpse of late Sheikh Musa who died on Sunday morning after a brief illness.
A source disclosed further that the victims’ telephone lines have been switched off since their abductors, but added that the kidnappers made contact with the family on Monday morning demanding 10 million naira ransom for their release.
Efforts to get the state police command’s response to the incident proved abortive as the spokesman did not pick up calls when contacted.
However, the State Security Adviser to the state government, Jerry Omadora confirmed the incident adding that the security agents in the state are doing everything possible to rescue them from the Kidnappers den.
